If you're a high school junior, or the parent of one, September 1 is an important day of the year. It's the first day college coaches may contact student-athletes directly via email, phone calls, social media, or in person. Scheduling phone calls and visits becomes much easier now that coaches can finally respond to you. Recruiting coach, Kito Delgado outlines steps families should begin taking today, including:

  1. Register with the NCAA eligibility center
  2. Send your transcript and SAT/ACT codes to eligibility center using code 9999
  3. Create a list of college coaches to reach out you (20-25 to start)
  4. Parents start recording games for highlights
  5. Meet with your guidance counselor to make sure student-athlete is on track with his/her core courses
